Sue Powell

I facilitate leadership teams and executive clients to understand and challenge the perceptions and beliefs that hold them back from being at their most fulfilled and productive.

My career has spanned the public and private sectors and I have developed client relationships which stand the test of time and I am typically described as direct, challenging, supportive and fun. I describe my approach to this work as a combination of rigour (taking the content seriously) and play (holding ourselves lightly). My strengths are my energy and resilience, and an ability to encourage experienced people to experiment with new leadership practices. I bring insight, challenge and rigour to help leaders grow awareness, shift mindsets and collaborate more effectively.

I first trained as a dietitian and worked in the NHS helping people finds ways to change their habits and lifestyles. From there I moved into sales and then as post–graduate, into mergers and acquisitions where the theme of helping people to manage change continued. Thereafter I had extensive experience in planning, sales and marketing, customer service and business development of consumer brands for FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies. I have an MBA from Manchester Business School where my areas of special interest were Finance and Brand Management. I am also a professional speaker and have contributed to Skillsoft as a and EBSCO as a Leadership Expert. I have worked in a wide range of industry sectors on assignments that have included Leadership Development for senior managers in engineering; transformation of culture and employee engagement in media / entertainment; working with Leadership groups who want or need to function as a team; and integrating people and brands post–merger. I draw on my understanding of business and people, and actively use my intuition in my work. I am especially experienced at working with executives who are sceptical about the value of coaching or similar practices.

I live in West London neighbouring some beautiful parks. I enjoy Yin Yoga and other more active forms of fitness, especially walking, and when I’m not so active I am a keen theatre–goer. I love to travel for work or pleasure and enjoy good food and rich conversation with friends. Even better if I can combine these!”
